NEW YORK:  A 71-year-old man is in critical condition after being stabbed with a screwdriver three times and robbed early Saturday in a Manhattan deli.

Today, at 1:30 PM at the crime scene, Mayoral Candidate Curtis Sliwa will join outraged residents from the UWS and UES to speak out about Police Officers that will be removed from patrolling their neighborhoods amid a severe upsurge of violence. The patrol officers will be transferred to Rikers Island.

“There are not enough police in the precincts to respond to the violent crimes in the UWS and UES, and now they will be reassigned to take the place of Correctional Officers in the courts. That makes no sense,” Sliwa said. “Hire more Correctional Officers. There hasn’t been a Correctional class in two years. They need 2000 more Correctional Officers.”

Sliwa and the residents will call on Mayor de Blasio and Gov. Hochul to fix Rikers without causing the transfer of officers out of their districts.
